New Floor Nailer

The Tool Lending Library has a brand new Bostitch Floor Nailer ready for lending.  There have been a couple of members that have been asking about one, and here it is!   Until we get a little bigger budget, we will only be able to get one or two tools at a time while we try to keep the ones we have in good shape.  As an early heads up, we will be having out first annual Yuletide Tool Drive coming up in December, and as always feel free to take a look at our wish list on amazon if you are in a giving mood

Our phone is working again!

We finally got our phones working again! Many apologies to all the missed phone calls and the inability to leave a message the last few days.  But you can now call us on the 105 ext again and talk to us instead of only being able to reach us by email or with the hope of running into one of us somewhere in the great city of New Orleans. In case you don't have it written down: call us (please) at 504.483.7041 ext 105.  To be honest we will be happy just to hear the phone ring again.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,

Feeling Generous?

Hello everyone,

Are you in a giving mood?  Well we just updated our Amazon Wish List and it is chock full of goodies ranging in prices from about $10 to $800.  Find everything here.  We will be updating it regularly.  As you probably already know we are a small non-profit and operate on a very small budget, if you can find it your heart to get us any of the things listed there, it would help us immensely.  Also if you have any tools at home you are not using anymore or tools that might need a small fix to work, feel free to donate them.  And remember, all donations are tax-deductible.

Also, we recently created a staff page where you can learn more about Ford and Patrick our tool lending library coordinators.

Look forward to seeing everyone soon

New Green Resources

Hello all,

We recently received some great resources from our friends at Global Green.  Our office now has (available for reference, not for lending) a guide to Energy Efficient Homes in Louisiana.  It was developed by the Louisiana State Energy Office and deals with the unique challenges of greening your home in Louisiana.  We will also be keeping a folder of one page references on specific aspects of green building like HVAC and plumbing fixtures and insulation and paint...    The information is also on Global Green's "Build it Back Green" (BIBG) website.

We also want to remind you of our Energy Audit Kit which is available for lending if you are a current member.  It is a great and easy way to see how efficient your home is.  And as always feel free to come in and chat with us about ways to make your home more efficient.

Thanks, and we look forward to see you soon

Food Drive

Hello All,

Do you have late fees?  Do you want to help out people struggling in St. Bernard Parish with rebuilding after Katrina and the oil spill?  Do you have extra food around your house you would like to get rid of?

Well if you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are in luck.  HandsOn New Orleans is doing a food drive to benefit the St. Bernard Community Center.  We will have a Box here at the Tool Lending Library and donated food can go towards any late fees you might have or might still accrue.  The Food Drive goes from Oct 1st until Oct 23rd.  They are looking for Rice, Pasta, Grits and Beans in particular.

We look forward to seeing you soon and are excited about all the non-perishable foods we will be receiving.
